Gorilla Gospel
Let's look at the facts. The media, be that the TV, movies, music videos, the internet, commercials - whatever, send us
messages everyday. Most of these messages tell us that we need more. More money, more vanity, more excitement, more
drama. All of this is brought to us at a higher rate of speed. Most of modern pop culture teaches kids that life is all about
money, power, sex and instant gratification. You gotta have it now.
As a believer of Jesus Christ I know that 100 percent of all of this is bogus. These very core values that we are instilling into
kids - via the media - are in direct contrast to how we were built and designed. God created us in His image and everything
about us has a purpose. The pursuit of happiness via money, power and sex was simply not part of the plan. This is sin
based, not Him based. Quite honestly there is only so much we can take before all of this will destroy us. The process is
often times slow, but never the less it is killing us.
My friends, it is time we fight back. We can write blogs and complain to each other in our church's and small groups, but I
don't think this is the answer. I'm tired of preaching to the choir. Frankly, I'm tired of the fatalistic complaining and moaning
about the state of affairs in our world that is usually not backed up with any plan or call to action. Let's do something about
this together.
I think the urgent life or death message of the Gospel is too important to just toss around on Sunday mornings in church.
We gotta take it to the streets; take it to the media. We need new and fresh ideas and leaders. We cannot be afraid to get
out there, roll up our sleeves and get down to business. We gotta be gorillas. It's 2010. This is God's time now.
Quote of the Week...
"The bible says that faith without works is dead... Here's a fantastic suggestion I read
recently...... Pray as if everything depended on your prayers and work as if everything
depended on your work!"
